Where can we elope in Milwaukee?

You can elope wherever you want to stand: your backyard, your living room, a rooftop, a park, the lakefront, or a restaurant's private room. Travel is free within 30 miles of Milwaukee, with a small travel fee beyond that.

Some parks require a permit for a gathering, so check with the park before you set the date.

The Milwaukee County Courthouse is not performing weddings right now. Couples who planned a courthouse wedding book the Quickie instead. See the Milwaukee courthouse wedding alternative.

What does a micro wedding with Schwa look like?

A micro wedding gets the same ceremony direction as a big one. Schwa lines up the wedding party, checks in with your photographer, and cues the start, so nobody has to run the day.

Victoria had 20 guests and a handfasting. In her words: "the care, intention, and thoughtfulness behind every word was so deeply felt."

What else do eloping couples ask?

Can it be only the two of us?

In Wisconsin you need two witnesses who are at least 18. They sign the marriage license after the ceremony. If you don't have witnesses lined up, tell Schwa Potter and he'll help you figure out a plan. Illinois requires no witnesses.

How fast can we elope in Milwaukee?

The same day, if you already have your marriage license and Schwa's calendar is open. Wisconsin has a 3-day waiting period after you apply, and most counties will shorten it for up to $25. Call or text Schwa at (414) 375-9838.

Can we elope on a Saturday?

Yes. The $300 Quickie Ceremony is available Saturdays before 1pm. The $950 Signature Ceremony is available any day and any time.

Do you travel for destination elopements?

Yes, with the Signature Ceremony. Schwa Potter has married couples on Mackinac Island and in New York City, Malibu, Nashville, Vermont, and San Francisco.

Can we write our own vows?

Yes, with either ceremony. Write your own, repeat after Schwa, or keep it to the Declaration of Intent (the "I do").

What does the officiant wear to an elopement?

Schwa matches your vibe. For a casual backyard elopement, he dresses down. If you're dressing up, he wears a suit.
